SOMETIMES IN APRIL

Every single day I think about what could have been. I think we all do. We think about had we tried a bit harder, had we been more mature...Was it me, Was it you, Was it both of us? Not sure we'll never know, but we move on. We grow old. We find new people who stimulate us in new ways. We find people who stimulate parts of our minds we forgot about, parts of our mind we thought were exclusive to the one who got away. How is this POSSIBLE? People who stimulate the most intimate areas of our minds to bring out the child in us...The child in me searching every day for another play date, an experience where neither one of us have to think, we just do, we just play. We adventure when we least expect to and stare at stars with the moon too. We get hi till we can't see straight and fall on one another laughing as our souls shake. They vibrate and move to the same frequency. Wouldn't that be something? To the soulmates we haven't met or maybe we already have, we look forward to

HOW NOT TO REACT TO HUMAN SUFFERING

The above picture was taken by Kevin Carter in 1993 when he went to take shots of the suffering in southern Sudan, Carter claimed he chased away the vulture but didn't pick up or help the toddler and could not say what happened to her thereafter. He just went closer took this iconic shot, chased the vulture away and left the suffering toddler to her fate. He sold this particular picture to the New York Times, won a Pulitzer price for it and then KILLED HIMSELF  three months after. Kevin Carter confided in his close friends regretting "I'm really really sorry I didn't pick the child up". He was haunted, lived a miserable life for months, he took his own life when his guilt overwhelmed him...  We live in a social media, where everyone is competing to post their lives on the internet for likes, comments and shares, but what are your responsibilities when human life and suffering is at stake?? What is your reaction when a lady is being sexually assaulted?? Do you p

Sometimes you meet someone, and it's so clear that the two of you, on some level belong together. As lovers, or as friends, or as family, or as something entirely different. You just work, whether you understand one another or you're in love or you're partners in crime. You meet these people throughout your life, out of nowhere, under the strangest circumstances, and help you feel alive. I don't know if that makes me believe in coincidence, or fate, or sheer blind luck, but it definitely makes me believe in SOMETHING

IN SEARCH OF HAPPINESS

I've been thinking about this whole "happy thing" and I feel like people get lost when they think of happiness as a destination....rather happiness is a mood,a condition not a destination,it's like being tired or hungry,it comes and goes that's okay...I feel like if people thought of happiness that way they would find it more often saleemmwendwa@gmail.com saleemmwendwa@gmail.com
